FAQ
How do we book you?
Once you have contacted me and confirmed that I am available for your date, I will usually try and arrange a consultation so that I can find out more about your wedding, and you can meet me, see more of my work and ask lots of questions.
I require a completed and signed booking form and a retainer fee of £500 to secure my services for your wedding date. The form can be downloaded by clicking on the link to the right, and the retainer can be paid by cheque or bank transfer.
I operate a first-come, first-served policy and I can’t hold dates without the form and fee.
Where are you based? Will you travel as far as [insert place]?
I live in Ashford in Kent, but I also have a base near Sheffield which I use when shooting weddings in the northern half of the country, and I’m a regular visitor to central London.
I am happy to travel anywhere in the world for your wedding. Travel and accommodation expenses are included for weddings within England and Wales. Any further than that and I will usually need to arrange travel and local accommodation for both the night before and the night of your wedding, and I will give you a quote for this before you book.
I have a policy of not making short-haul flights (environmental reasons), so where necessary travel costs will include ferry crossings, train fares and hire cars.
Will you take some group shots?
Although I do not pose or stage any of my photographs, I realise that some of your family may see some group shots and line-ups as vital to the photography. I therefore include an allowance of five group shots in my coverage for those couples that really must have them. One shot of everybody present is the most common request, location allowing.
If however the group shots are the most important part of the photography for you I can recommend a number of photographers that will be more suitable for you.
What percentage of our images will be black and white?
I use a combination of colour and black and white images to document your wedding in the best way possible. Obviously it varies from wedding to wedding, but on average around 70% of your final images will be black and white. Removing the colour from an image helps to focus the attention on the subject and the action within that image, to help document texture and pattern, and can also make for a more elegant and timeless photograph.
Do you require feeding on the day?
I always bring my own food and drink. This makes it easier for you as it’s one less thing for you to organise and worry about, but it also means I can relax in the knowledge that I don’t have to pester anyone for a meal. I take a break to eat during your meal, at which point I often make a back-up copy of the images captured thus far.
