Next up, an Irish-American wedding in the beautiful surroundings of Richmond Park. Following a ceremony at St. Simon’s Catholic church in Battersea, Eimear and Ben led the way to the terrace at Pembroke Lodge, where the guests were greeted by fizz, food, Irish music and an amazing view of the Thames valley.

Michele and Amine – Wedding Photography at The Roof Gardens, Kensington

My third and final wedding of the weekend, Michele and Amine’s wedding was a very relaxed, informal and cosmopolitan event. The bride and groom (a mix of Uruguayan/South African and Algerian) had flown in from their home in Hong Kong, and some of their family and friends had come from the four corners of the world to be there.

I found myself surrounded by guests with cameras and camcorders during the ceremony, which is a first, after which everyone headed out to the gardens for virgin mojitos by the hundred, dancing to North African music and an al-fresco wedding breakfast in the sunshine.

Emily and Oliver – Wedding Photography at The Tudor Barn, Eltham

After dealing with a few transport issues (parents of the groom broke down en route, vintage taxi for the bride never arrived) Emily and Oliver were finally married at The Tudor Barn in Eltham in south-east London. Following the ceremony everybody braved the sun, and one of the hottest days of the year, for the drinks reception on the lawn, then it was back into the barn for the wedding breakfast and party.

Alexia & Matt – Wedding Photography at St Sophia’s and Syon Park, London

First of three weddings in one weekend this, and a whole load of new experiences for me. My first Greek Orthodox wedding, and my first time at Syon Park to name but two. Alexia and Matt had their ceremony at the fantastic St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Bayswater, complete with crowns and trips around the ceremonial table. With the speedy legal proceedings completed, everybody jumped into buses for the crawl through London’s Friday afternoon rush hour to Syon Park.

There the guests were entertained by Greek musicians before heading into the Great Conservatory for a rather hot and humid wedding breakfast. The evening party brought new experiences too with Alexia and Matt performing a traditional Greek first dance, followed by more traditional dances, before the second first dance (!) and the usual party choons.

Bessie and Ben – Wedding Photography at Westminster Boating Base, London

It’s not very often that a London wedding takes in so many of the sights, but Bessie and Ben had organised a boat trip up and down the Thames following their ceremony at St Lukes Church in Battersea. A pair of Routemaster buses took the guests to Millbank pier, and the trip gave everyone a great view of all the great riverside attractions, before mooring at Westminster Boating Base in Pimlico for the wedding breakfast and evening party.

Tea and Murray – Wedding Photography at Home House, London W1

Home House members club was host to Tea & Murray’s wedding, a venue Tea knows inside out in her role as an events manager. It was a quiet and sophisticated affair, with just Tea & Murray’s close family and friends in attendance, including (confusingly) Tea’s twin sister. See the second image!

Ruth and Andrew – Wedding Photography at The Bull and Last, Highgate, London

Another weekend of glorious weather, and my first double-header of the year. First, I was off to North London for Ruth and Andrew’s fairly intimate, but very glamourous wedding. Following their ceremony at Islington Town Hall everyone headed to The Bull & Last pub in Highgate, and a room sporting the largest stuffed moose head I’ve ever seen!

Sally and John – Wedding Photography at St Paul’s Cathedral, London

Thanks to Sally’s father’s OBE she and John were able to use the OBE chapel in the crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral for their wedding ceremony. The only downside to such a great venue is that the vergers there have a very dim view of photography, but I managed to grab a couple from my spot at the back without anyone noticing.

From St Paul’s everyone headed down Ludgate Hill to the Balls Brothers pub for champagne before jumping on a Routemaster bus up to the 1901 restaurant at the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street for the wedding breakfast and evening party.

Seeta and Nathan – Wedding Photography in East London

A return to my old stomping ground in East London for Seeta and Nathan’s big day. They started with their ceremony at Shoreditch Town Hall, then headed round the corner to Village Underground, a huge, restored, Victorian warehouse. This brilliant space makes a great wedding venue and provided a very cool backdrop to the reception and party. The day was rounded off by the surprise appearance of a Prince tribute act.

Lyndsey and Gareth – Wedding Photography in London

Lyndsey (another wedding photographer!) and Gareth were married at Tower Hamlets Register Office at Bromley Public Hall in East London. After the ceremony they jumped in their friend’s cab, and everyone else piled onto a couple of Routemaster buses for a quick tour of the City, before arriving at The Distillers next to Smithfield Market for the reception and party. They win the award for most colourful flowers and bridesmaid dresses for 2009!
